Pre-orders will open for Sony’s awesome 30th Anniversary PS5 hardware collection on 26th September, but we still don’t know how much the Japanese giant will be charging for any of the items on offer. Reliable leaker billbil-kun, writing for French website Dealabs, has the all-important scoop – although only on a couple of items.

The presentation was hosted by PlayStation architect Mark Cerny and lasted a brisk nine minutes before announcing the PS5 Pro’s $699.99 price and launch date, November 7th, 2024. Preorders will start on September 26th.

After years of rumour and speculation, the release of the Sony PS5 Pro has been confirmed. We finally have a PlayStation 5 release date, price, and we know at least some of the main specs for a console that looks set to provide a significant boost to performance thanks to a bigger GPU and AI upscaling via PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

This isn't the first Sony has used the intoxicating power of nostalgia to tempt its customers to part with their hard-earned cash; a decade ago it released a 20th-anniversary variant of the PS4, again resplendent in PS1 clothing.

Sony is celebrating 30 years of PlayStation and the celebrations are quite elaborate. The company has recently announced the limited edition PSOne themed PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro as part of these celebrations.
